Telangana BJP demands MBC Corporation report from Congress government

Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Monday alleged that both Congress and BRS have failed backward classes and demanded the state government disclose funds allocated to the Most Backward Classes (MBC) Corporation and details of beneficiaries. Addressing the first state executive meeting of the BJP OBC Morcha in Hyderabad, Rao accused Congress of minority appeasement politics and said decisions by previous Congress governments had adversely affected BC reservation shares.

The Times of India reports Rao questioned whether the MBC Corporation was functioning effectively and had adequate funds. Deccan Chronicle adds that Rao specifically cited the introduction of five per cent reservation for Muslims during Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure and their inclusion within the BC category, alleging this eroded the share of genuine BC communities. Rao contrasted this with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's record, noting Modi belongs to the OBC community and has ensured greater representation for BCs.

Rao urged BJP OBC Morcha leaders to take central welfare schemes to the people and explain how BC communities have benefited. He called for a white paper on the MBC and BC corporations' performance and asked workers to expose what he termed Congress betrayal.
