BJP issues show-cause notice to Chandigarh councillor Kuljeet Singh Sandhu

The BJP's Chandigarh unit has issued a show-cause notice to Ward 14 councillor Kuljeet Singh Sandhu for alleged anti-party activities. Party general secretary Ramveer Bhatti sent the notice, accusing Sandhu of making public statements against the party leadership.

The dispute began after Sandhu, a former senior deputy mayor, sought the resignation of Chandigarh BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra during a Municipal Corporation meeting on June 29. Sandhu, appearing via video conference from Australia, objected to Malhotra's alleged comments against the Punjabi community and released a video demanding his resignation.

The notice directs Sandhu to submit a written explanation within three days, warning of disciplinary action if he fails to respond. Bhatti said the BJP is a disciplined organisation that expects its workers to uphold its dignity.
