Tamil Nadu BJP chief faces complaint over remarks on CM’s mother

A complaint has been filed with the Tamil Nadu DGP against BJP state president Nainar Nagendran for derogatory remarks about Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and his mother. A TVK worker filed the complaint, seeking preservation of digital evidence and criminal proceedings for defamation and public misconduct, India Today reports.

Speaking at a party event in Chennai on August 15, Nagendran said those searching for a father in the Assembly should "ask the mother at home" to know who the father is. The remark was in response to Vijay's earlier 'kutti kathai' story targeting DMK chief MK Stalin, who lost his seat in the 2026 election.

TVK minister A Rajmohan called the comments uncivilised. Former state BJP chief K Annamalai condemned them as "third-rate politics" that insult a leader's family, Hindustan Times and The News Minute report. Nagendran later said his remarks were misrepresented and he holds concern for mothers and the motherland.
