Deepika Padukone likes post criticising Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Deepika Padukone has liked an Instagram post that criticised filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga and alleged double standards in the film industry, following claims made by his brother about her exit from the film "Spirit". The post, shared by journalist Janvi Manchanda, questioned why Deepika faced backlash for asking for a 10 per cent profit share when male stars routinely make such demands.

The controversy erupted after Pranay Reddy Vanga, the producer and Sandeep's brother, said in an interview that Deepika had demanded 10 per cent of the film's profits, which contributed to the breakdown of negotiations. Deepika was originally cast opposite Prabhas in "Spirit", but left the project last year. The role has since gone to Triptii Dimri. NDTV reports that Deepika's exit was earlier attributed to her insistence on an eight-hour workday as a new mother.

Pranay Vanga also alleged that after the deal fell through, details of the project were leaked. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, "Spirit" is scheduled for release in March 2027.
