GB Nagar sets Oct 17, 24 voter camps
Gautam Budh Nagar will hold special voter registration camps on Saturday, 17 October, and Saturday, 24 October, to enrol eligible residents whose names are missing from electoral rolls and first-time voters, district election officer Medha Roopam said on Friday, 16 October.
Booth-level officers will be available at polling stations from 10 am to 4 pm with Form 6 and other documents. Help desks will assist applicants. The qualifying date for registration is 1 January 2027.
Integrated draft electoral rolls will be published on 12 November, with claims and objections accepted until 11 December. Final rolls are due on 4 January 2027. Officials have been asked to coordinate with resident welfare and apartment owners' associations to publicise the camps.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The camps are the first visible step in Gautam Budh Nagar's special summary revision for 2027, giving eligible voters two fixed days to register at their polling stations. The district magistrate's direct involvement signals official priority, but the real test is turnout: low registration would leave the draft rolls incomplete before the 12 November publication. The schedule after that, claims until 11 December, resolution by 28 December, final rolls on 4 January, leaves a tight window for correcting omissions. Residents who miss both camp dates can still file claims after the draft is published, but the process becomes longer.
