Harish Rao demands pending DAs for Telangana Model School teachers

BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao has demanded that the Congress government extend death gratuity, family pension and compassionate appointments to the families of Model School teachers who died in service. He also sought clearance of five pending Dearness Allowances (DAs) for teaching staff across the state.

After meeting representatives of Model School teachers and families of deceased teachers at his residence on Wednesday, Rao said around 40 teachers appointed under the CPS system after 2004 had died and their families were facing hardship as the government had not extended benefits under GOs 60 and 58. He said families had submitted applications to the Chief Minister over the past 32 months without any response.

Rao said around 3,000 teachers in 194 Model Schools were denied five DAs. The Education department had sought an additional Rs 93 crore to clear the arrears, with no response. The pending DA amounts to Rs 3.52 lakh per principal, Rs 2.81 lakh per postgraduate teacher and Rs 2.36 lakh per trained graduate teacher. He demanded immediate implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) and said Model Schools should be brought under the '010' budget head.
