Harish Rao demands white paper on Section 22A land additions

BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao has demanded that the Telangana government release a white paper on all lands added to the prohibited list under Section 22A since December 2023, when the Congress government came to power. Rao accused the government of turning Section 22A into a tool of harassment and corruption, alleging that lakhs of acres and thousands of properties were placed on the list without proper verification.

Speaking to media at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Rao said properties cleared under the repealed Urban Land Ceiling Act were being brought back under Section 22A. He claimed that even properties with official NOCs and bank loans, including areas around the airport and Outer Ring Road, had been included. Rao also alleged that the residence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was reportedly on the prohibited list, and questioned why citizens must suffer for the government's administrative mistakes.

Rao also criticised the implementation of the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, alleging that more than one lakh applications were pending. He demanded an independent inquiry into the process of adding and removing properties from Section 22A, and said the government should immediately remove wrongly included properties instead of delaying through reviews.
