India removed Pakistan High Commission barricades as tit-for-tat, says MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday said India removed temporary structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as a 'proportionate response' to Pakistan removing structures in front of the Indian mission in Islamabad, despite India's request not to do so.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Pakistan removed some structures in front of the Indian High Commission to facilitate parking. India then took reciprocal action, removing temporary structures in the lane outside the Pakistan High Commission. Visuals showed debris, broken metal railings, and demolished fencing outside the mission.

Times Now News reported that the move comes after the Pahalgam terror attack and India's Operation Sindoor, and noted that the US ambassador recently affirmed Jammu and Kashmir as an 'important part of India'. The Times of India reported the demolition of barriers and queue-management structures but did not mention these events.
