IPS Vishnoi transfers out of Sambhal after 1 year 11 months

IPS Krishna Kumar Vishnoi, who gained prominence for his handling of law and order in Sambhal after the November 24, 2024 violence, has completed a tenure of about one year and 11 months in the district and been transferred to Bijnor. A farewell ceremony was held for him on Saturday at the police lines in Bahjoi, where District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal and other police officials bid him an emotional goodbye. During the event, Vishnoi became teary-eyed while recalling the Sambhal violence, and DM Khandelwal was also seen struggling to hold back his emotions.

Vishnoi credited the entire Sambhal police team for controlling the violence and taking action against the accused, saying it was a collective effort, not the achievement of a single officer. Under his tenure, the police set up 10 barriers at district borders, established 39 new police outposts including the Satyavrat outpost near the disputed site, and installed over 250 CCTV cameras linked to an integrated command and control centre. An ATS unit was also proposed to strengthen security in light of past terror links in the area.

At the end of the farewell, Vishnoi said, 'A lamp has no home of its own… wherever we go, we will spread light there.' The line moved everyone present. He has now left for Bijnor.
