Iran, Oman agree on Strait of Hormuz shipping routes

Iran and Oman have agreed on designated shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, though technical talks and a joint statement are still pending, Telangana Today reports. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said negotiations had progressed smoothly over the past three weeks but that exchanges on the joint statement continued. The two coastal states have finalised a “shipping map” for vessels, an independent arrangement between them with the United States not part of the discussions.

The proposed framework aims to ensure safe passage while preserving sovereignty, but reopening the strait to normal traffic depends on conditions the US must meet, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said. He added that Iran has not decided to resume negotiations with Washington. Separately, US President Donald Trump declared on Friday that the US will declare the Hormuz Strait a territory after defeating Iran, as reported by Telangana Today.
