Jagan accuses Andhra govt of drought, BC reservation failures

YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh of failing to respond to drought conditions, playing politics over BC reservations, and allowing police involvement in ganja peddling. Addressing a press conference, the former chief minister said the state recorded a 51-52% rainfall deficit between June and August 23, with 625 of 688 mandals receiving deficient rain and 25 of 28 districts affected. He claimed kharif cultivation was 20% below normal and accused the government of dismantling farmer-support systems like Rythu Bharosa Kendras and free crop insurance.

On BC reservations, Jagan said the YSRCP had provided 34% reservation in local bodies before courts struck it down, and claimed 11 of his 25 cabinet members were from BC communities. He alleged the NDA government was targeting BC leaders with false cases. Regarding law and order, Jagan cited the Addanki incident where police personnel in an inebriated condition hit an auto, with ganja, liquor and uniforms found in their car. He alleged the government attempted a cover-up and that ganja peddling operates in an organised manner with police nexus.
