Kannada film Devi shoots 50-ft Darshan cutout action sequence

The upcoming Kannada film Devi, starring Chetan Gowda and Bhavya Gowda, shot a major action sequence over two days outside Akash Theatre in Bengaluru's Laggere area, staged in front of a 50-foot cutout of actor Darshan. The sequence, choreographed by Dileep, involves hundreds of junior artistes and actors including Huli Karthik, Jagga Mummy, Cockroach Sudhi and Yash Shetty.

Directed by Prakash Kumar, Devi follows a young man who moves to the city from a village and gets drawn into rowdyism. Chetan Gowda, who also wrote the story and screenplay, plays the protagonist and is a self-confessed Darshan fan, playing a fan in the film as well. The action sequence is linked to the re-release of Darshan's film Shastri, with Chetan's character coming to a theatre to watch it and getting into a fight.

The film has completed seven to eight days of shooting, with 45 days remaining. Most of the remaining shoot will be in Bengaluru, followed by a 10-day schedule in Mandya and another in Shivamogga. The film's commercial core includes action and mother sentiment, with Ajith Kumar as cinematographer, Sridhar V Sambhram composing music and Masti writing dialogues.
