Kerala extends crop loss relief claim deadline to September 5

Kerala Agriculture Minister Adv T Siddique has extended the deadline for submitting applications for natural disaster relief assistance and crop insurance compensation to September 5. The move comes after severe floods and heavy rainfall from July 29 to August 10, 2026, caused widespread crop damage across the state.

The minister said the deadline was extended to ensure no eligible farmer misses the opportunity to apply. Applications can be submitted through the AIMS portal or at the nearest Krishi Bhavan. The decision follows a high-level meeting aimed at immediate relief and bringing more farmers under the crop insurance scheme. Farmers have been urged not to wait until the final day.

Mathrubhumi reports that the government will prioritise measures to support resumption of farming activities alongside ensuring financial assistance for affected farmers.
