Kerala govt sanctions Rs 45.68 crore for college infra upgrade

The Kerala Higher Education Department has sanctioned Rs 45.68 crore for infrastructure development in government colleges across the state, Minister Roji M John announced on Tuesday. The funds will be used for new buildings, academic blocks, administrative centres, IT facilities, and other projects, he said in a Facebook post.

Major allocations include Rs 13.48 crore for a new administrative centre at Kesari Government Arts and Science College in North Paravur, Rs 5.60 crore for hostel and mess buildings at Maharaja's College, and Rs 4.81 crore for a library and research block at Government College, Kariavattom. Other grants cover colleges in Karunagappally, Madappally, Munnar, and Elerithattu.

The minister said the projects aim to make government colleges more student-friendly and improve research and teaching standards. He has directed the Director of Collegiate Education to expedite follow-up procedures and start construction at the earliest.
