Hyderabad court gives life term in 2022 murder case

A Hyderabad court has sentenced 26-year-old Yeddu Sandeep Kumar to life imprisonment for murdering a woman and attempting to kill her daughter in Miyapur in December 2022. The XII Additional Court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for murder and 10 years rigorous imprisonment with a Rs 10,000 fine for attempted murder, along with three months simple imprisonment for house trespass, The Hans India reports.

According to the police, the accused had been harassing the complainant after a past relationship ended due to suspicion over her character. The family had moved to Hyderabad to escape the harassment, but the accused allegedly planned the attack after learning of the victim's engagement. He entered the house with a knife on 13 December 2022, attacking both women, the mother died the next day. The accused attempted suicide and was arrested on 23 December 2022.

A charge sheet was filed and after a complete trial the court delivered the sentence. No further details on appeals were reported.
