Mehbooba calls herself ‘dimagi Naxal’ over Article 370 support

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has called herself a 'dimagi Naxal' in a post on X, saying she supports Article 370. The remark was a response to Union minister Kiren Rijiju, who listed supporters of Article 370 and Maoists as 'dimagi Naxals', referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech.

The ruling National Conference hit back, blaming the PDP-BJP coalition government for the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. NC legislator Tanvir Sadiq said the PDP's alliance with the BJP in 2015 led to the events that followed. NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said mixing Article 370 with the term 'dimagi Naxal' was a disservice to the Constitution.

Mehbooba's post follows a political row over PM Modi's 'dimagi Naxal' comment. The NC has said it will continue fighting for the restoration of Article 370.
