Mother-son duo arrested for two murders and robbery in Hyderabad

Siddipet police arrested a woman and her juvenile son for the murder of a neighbour, Athikam Vijaya, whose burnt body was found on August 8 in Ramakkapeta village. Police Commissioner S Rashmi Perumal said the accused, Chakali Rajitha (38) and her minor son, lured Vijaya into their grocery shop, strangled her, and set her body ablaze with petrol after keeping it in their house. They pawned her ornaments and bought 10 litres of petrol.

During interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed to killing another woman, K Renuka, who went missing in May, and burning her body in Achamayyapalli forest. They are also accused of attacking a morning walker, Annapurna, in June 2025 during a robbery attempt, leaving her in a coma. Police recovered 5.6 tolas of gold and 53 tolas of silver ornaments from them and said they had planned four more targets, targeting women living alone.
