Nihal Sarin says D Gukesh slump is about confidence, not class

Indian Grandmaster Nihal Sarin has said that world champion D Gukesh's recent slump is a matter of confidence, not class. Sarin said Gukesh needs to work on his self-belief to get back to his best.

Speaking to reporters, Sarin expressed hope that the upcoming Chess Olympiad in Samarkand will help Gukesh rediscover his form. He added that Gukesh remains a top-tier player and the dip is temporary.

The Chess Olympiad is scheduled to be held later this year in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Gukesh, who became the youngest world champion in history, will be looking to bounce back at the event.
