No need to worry, won’t let peace be disrupted: J&K LG Sinha

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said there is no need for people to worry over attempts to disturb peace in the Union Territory, asserting that the administration and security forces are fully committed to maintaining order. He was responding to demands raised at a programme of displaced Kashmiri Pandits on security for KP employees in the valley after recent terror incidents.

"There are many challenges, including the one you mentioned. But I believe there are even bigger challenges that we have to address," Sinha said at the annual-day function of the Kashmiri Pandit Volunteers. He said the biggest challenge in the past was the perception that no one would carry the national flag in J&K, but many now stand ready to do so.

On recent terror incidents, Sinha acknowledged that attempts are being made to disturb peace but said there is no need to panic. He assured that the administration and security forces are fully committed to maintaining peace, and anyone who tries to disrupt it will not be allowed to succeed. The LG's remarks came after KPV founder Vikram Kaul urged the government not to restore statehood to J&K, citing security concerns, and demanded enhanced relief and long-term security for KP employees.
