Pickleball World Cup 2026 starts August 30 in Vietnam
The 2026 Pickleball World Cup will be held from August 30 to September 6 in Da Nang, Vietnam. India has been placed in the open category group stage alongside the Czech Republic, Israel, and Antigua and Barbuda.
The tournament will also feature age-group categories. Organisers have announced prize money across divisions and will live-stream all matches for free on the official Pickleball World Cup YouTube channel. Co-founder Hercilio Cabieses said the event aims to expand the sport globally through international broadcasting and media presence.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The Indian Pickleball Association, formed in 2019 and affiliated with the Global Pickleball Federation, has been pushing for greater international exposure for domestic players. India's entry in the World Cup's open category means its players will face nations where pickleball is more established, making the group stage a key benchmark. With the tournament offering prize money for the first time and a global YouTube stream, the organisers are betting that visibility will drive participation back home. India currently lacks a dedicated professional pickleball circuit beyond the PWR ranking system, so a strong showing in Da Nang could accelerate calls for more tournament funding and structured training pathways.
