Prabhas and Rishab Shetty praise Akshaye Khanna in Mahakali glimpse
Prabhas and Rishab Shetty have praised the first glimpse of the upcoming mythological film Mahakali, directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and produced by RKD Studios. Prabhas called Akshaye Khanna and Sriya Reddy 'absolutely terrific' in the glimpse, while Rishab Shetty said it echoes a 'loud and powerful' war cry. The film is part of Prasanth Varma's cinematic universe and is set for release on January 8, 2027.
The glimpse has also sparked speculation about Prabhas's own project with Prasanth Varma and Hombale Films, with m9.news questioning whether the director could revive the previously shelved Brahma Rakshas concept with Prabhas. Bollywood Hungama reported the film's production details and release date, while m9.news focused on the timing of Prabhas's praise and his packed schedule including Spirit, Salaar 2, and Kalki 2.
No official announcement about a Prabhas-Prasanth Varma collaboration has been made by the filmmakers.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Bollywood Hungama reports the glimpse as a straight industry milestone, quoting celebrity praise and giving the release date. M9.news uses the same praise to frame a speculative narrative about Prabhas's next project, questioning whether it could be Brahma Rakshas. The key difference is that Bollywood Hungama treats the news as self-contained, while m9.news treats it as a clue about an unannounced film. Neither source challenges the official production details. The speculation about a Prabhas-Prasanth Varma film remains unconfirmed. The only concrete date is January 8, 2027 for Mahakali's release.
