Prayagraj schools shut on 23 October for MLC election work
The Story in Brief
All schools in Prayagraj from pre-primary to Class 12 will remain closed on Friday, 23 October, for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council biennial election from the Allahabad-Jhansi graduate constituency. The joint order was issued on Thursday, 22 October by District Basic Education Officer Anil Kumar and District Inspector of Schools Dr Santosh Kumar Rai, following the chief electoral officer’s directive.
The closure applies to council, government, aided, unaided recognised and all CBSE and ICSE board schools. Principals have been directed to strictly comply. Schools will reopen after the election work is complete.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both bhaskar.com and amarujala.com reported the school closure order identically, attributing it to the Allahabad-Jhansi graduate MLC by-election and citing the same officials. The coverage was uniform straight news, with no framing differences: each outlet led with the closure date and listed the school categories affected. Neither source included political commentary or criticism, and both presented the directive as a routine administrative measure. The next step is for schools to reopen after the election process is completed, as stated in the order.
