Raja Raghuvanshi’s mother seeks death for all six accused
Uma Raghuvanshi, mother of deceased Raja Raghuvanshi, on 16 October demanded the death penalty for prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and five co-accused in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case. She cited the capital punishment recently awarded in the Meerut blue drum murder case in her appeal to the government and judiciary.
Raja Raghuvanshi, a newlywed from Indore, was found dead in a gorge near Sohra on 2 June 2025 during his honeymoon. Sonam, his wife, was later found near a highway dhaba. The Meghalaya Police SIT has reconstructed the crime scene. Uma Raghuvanshi said only the death penalty for all involved will bring her peace.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both Lokmat Times and ANI carried the text as an agency feed from ANI, resulting in identical coverage. The story is led by Uma Raghuvanshi's demand, her comparison to the Meerut blue drum case, and the legal fact of that sentence. No independent scrutiny, no defence response, and no court or police statement on the Meghalaya case appear. The single frame is the victim mother's appeal, presented without editorial distance or alternate sources. The only concrete detail on the murder remains the body's discovery date, 2 June 2025, and the SIT reconstruction.
