Ram Pothineni joins Rajinikanth’s Dharman in key role
Ram Pothineni is set to appear in a key role opposite Rajinikanth in the upcoming film Dharman, according to industry sources. The film, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, features Rajinikanth as a doctor and is produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International. Raashi Khanna and Simran play female leads.
Some reports, including onlykollywood.com and m9.news, say the role may be that of an antagonist, while other sources describe it simply as a significant character. The casting has not been officially confirmed by the makers. The film is currently in its second schedule of shooting in Chennai.
For Ram Pothineni, who is also making his directorial debut with RAPO23, this marks a shift from lead roles to a supporting part opposite the veteran superstar.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Greatandhra.com and telugu360.com report Ram Pothineni has signed a key role in Rajinikanth's Dharman as a confirmed fact, framing it as a smart career pivot for the actor. Telugucinema.com adds that he accepted because he is a Rajinikanth fan, giving a personal motive. In contrast, onlykollywood.com, pinkvilla.com and m9.news, all publishing later on the same day, frame the casting as unconfirmed speculation, with onlykollywood and m9.news specifically floating the antagonist theory that the earlier sources omit. The sensationalist framing of m9.news leads with a fictionalised conflict ('vs') while pinkvilla hedges with a question mark. The measured reading is that the casting is industry buzz, not official, and the nature of the role remains unconfirmed. Watch for the makers' official announcement.
