SAB Television to revive Commander, Yes Boss, Suraag with AI reboot of Shrimaan Shrimati

Ravi Adhikari, chairman of SAB Television Network Ltd, plans to reboot iconic shows including Commander, Yes Boss, and Suraag, Bollywood Hungama reports in an exclusive interview. The company also intends to create new episodes of the cult comedy Shrimaan Shrimati using artificial intelligence, featuring the late actors Jatin Kanakia and Reema Lagoo.

Adhikari said the reboot of Suraag, titled Suraag 2.0 and starring Sudesh Berry and Sai Ketan Rao, is already ready. For Shrimaan Shrimati, the company will use AI to generate fresh visuals from original audio, taking permission from the actors' families. Adhikari emphasised that AI cannot replace human creativity but can help revive hard-to-recreate intellectual property.

The company has a deal with the Stage app to create AI content, and Adhikari predicted that AI will become a hybrid part of filmmaking rather than taking over entirely. The revivals aim to capitalise on the strong recall value of the shows, which continue to draw viewership on YouTube.
