Manjrekar quickly pushed back, telling the broadcast team to turn the camera to debutant commentator Ajinkya Rahane and praising that conversation as a far better experience. He then taunted Karthik, asking what his own voice sounded like when he looked in the mirror. Karthik retorted, "I don't look in the mirror, maybe you do." The exchange grew sharper, creating an awkward atmosphere on live television. Manjrekar later acknowledged the discussion had gone off track and predicted social media would pick it up.
