Shelton stunned by Faria at Cincinnati Open 2026

American Ben Shelton, ranked sixth in the world after his Montreal Masters win last week, was defeated in straight sets by Portugal's Jaime Faria at the Cincinnati Open 2026. Faria, ranked 79th, rallied from 4-1 down in the second set to earn his first top-10 win with a 6-4, 6-4 scoreline.

Second seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, returning from back pain, beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-5 to kickstart his US Open preparations. Fourth seed Daniil Medvedev defeated Marco Trungelliti 6-4, 7-5, while sixth seed Taylor Fritz beat Alex Michelsen 6-3, 6-4.
