Soori’s Mandaadi gets U/A 16+ certificate, runtime 154 minutes

Director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi's film Mandaadi, starring Soori, has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Censor Board, clearing its final major pre-release hurdle. The film's runtime is locked at 154 minutes and 51 seconds (2 hours 34 minutes). The makers confirmed the certification on social media on August 20, announcing a worldwide theatrical release on September 10, 2026, after a slight delay from an earlier September 4 date.

An action drama with sports elements centered on boat racing, the film is set against the coastlines of Tamil Nadu and explores the resilience of coastal communities. Cinema Express reports that production faced delays including a boat capsize accident off Ramanathapuram that caused significant equipment loss. Deccan Herald notes that Soori trained for months to handle a sailboat and performed open-ocean stunts without a double.

Produced by Elred Kumar under RS Infotainment, the film features Mahima Nambiar in the female lead, marking her return to Tamil cinema since 2023's Naadu. Telugu actor Suhas makes his Tamil debut in a pivotal role. The cast also includes Sathyaraj, Ravindra Vijay, Mithun Jai Sankar, and Bala Saravanan, with music by GV Prakash. The team is expected to begin promotions soon ahead of the September 10 release.
