Sunny Deol reveals why he tore his jeans on ‘Dar’ set

Sunny Deol has opened up about his long-standing rift with Shah Rukh Khan during the 1993 film 'Dar', saying they did not speak for 16 years. In an interview with News Book, Deol said the tension began over a scene in which his character, a trained commando, is easily stabbed by Khan's obsessive lover. Deol felt the logic was flawed and argued with the filmmakers.

Deol clarified that his anger was directed at himself, not at Khan. He said he tore his jeans in frustration during the shoot. Deol also noted that he and Khan were never enemies, but described their relationship as that of colleagues rather than friends. He added that true friendships are usually formed in childhood.

The two actors reconciled in 2023 when Khan called Deol to congratulate him on the success of 'Gadar 2'. They later embraced at a party, marking one of Bollywood's most talked-about reunions. Deol said Khan told him he was happy for his success and that he deserved it.
