Batwara 1947 jumps 132% on Day 2, earns Rs 23.64 crore

Sunny Deol's period drama Batwara 1947 roared back at the box office on Saturday, August 15, with a tracked gross of Rs 15.15 crore, a 132.7 per cent jump from its opening day. Tracktollywood.com reported that the Independence Day holiday drove heavy walk-ins at single screens and multiplexes, especially in northern India.

Ndtvprofit.com said the film collected Rs 4.39 crore net on Sunday, taking its India total to Rs 23.64 crore. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi.

Sunday's occupancy was lower in morning shows but evening and night screenings are expected to lift the weekend total. Opening day collections had been slow due to a crowded release window.
