Tamil Nadu CM Vijay announces full waiver of cooperative farm loans up to Rs 75,000

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced a full waiver of cooperative farm loans up to Rs 75,000, speaking in the state assembly. A partial waiver will also apply to crop loans between Rs 75,000 and Rs 1 lakh, with a total of 13.34 lakh farmers expected to benefit, news agency PTI reported.

Despite financial constraints, the state government has allocated an additional Rs 953.06 crore in support for farmers, Vijay said. The announcement marks his completion of 100 days in office.

The loan waiver scheme is now final, with the state government proceeding with implementation. More details on the phased rollout are expected in the coming weeks.
