Telangana Kolam families name settlement after Adilabad Collector

In a rare tribute, the Kolam Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) families of Dahiguda in Telangana's Adilabad district have named their resettlement colony 'Rajarshi Shahguda' after District Collector Rajarshi Shah. The gesture acknowledges his role in helping them get land to build houses under the State government's Indiramma housing scheme.

The families had been allotted houses but lacked land to construct them. After they approached Mr Shah, a 2017-batch IAS officer, he identified 17 government plots and issued pattas. Three houses have been completed and inaugurated. The hamlet is in Poppaldhari Gram Panchayat. Such community-led tributes are rare.

During a Gram Sabha, Mr Shah announced 10 more Indiramma Houses, goat and dairy buffalo units, free tailoring training for women, and employment links for educated local youth. Officials said securing forest clearances in the Tiger Reserve area remains a key challenge.
