Tom Moody hints at LSG captaincy reset after poor IPL run

Lucknow Super Giants director of cricket Tom Moody has signalled a possible leadership change after the franchise's second consecutive poor IPL season. Moody said captain Rishabh Pant has found captaincy challenging and that the results reflect that pressure, noting the team will consider all options for the future. LSG finished seventh in 2025 and are set to end the 2026 season in ninth or 10th place, winning only 10 of 28 matches under Pant.

Pant, who joined LSG for a record Rs 27 crore, has also struggled with the bat, scoring 581 runs at a strike rate of 135.74 across two seasons, well below his career strike rate of 144.18. His comments come days after Pant lost India's Test vice-captaincy to KL Rahul and was dropped from the ODI squad. Moody said the franchise will take serious consideration over what the leadership looks like in the future.
