Tree-trimming debris left uncleared angers Hyderabad residents

Residents in several Hyderabad localities are furious over tree branches and leaves left unattended for days after TGSPDCL's tree-trimming drives. The discom said the non-availability of dumping yards within a 3, 4 km radius of the three municipal corporations is the main reason for debris being left behind. Officials said contractors handle trimming under discom supervision, and staff review work during Praja Bata and Basti Bata programmes.

CMD Jitesh V. Patil proposed that TGSPDCL pay municipal bodies if their staff remove tree debris pruned by power staff. The offer was made during coordination meetings with Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporations. But residents said the problem persists, with rotting waste making roads slippery, breeding insects and obstructing traffic. Complaints came from KPHB Colony, Dilsukhnagar and Chaitanyapuri X Roads.

TGSPDCL officials said debris is generally cleared the same or next day, and teams monitor media and social media for complaints. They said tree pruning to prevent monsoon short circuits is about 80% complete within city limits, with the rest due by end of this month. Residents said they are left to navigate slippery, insect-infested roads until the debris is finally cleared.
