UK man, 55, dies after dog bite in West Yorkshire, owner held

A 55-year-old man died after being bitten by a dog during an altercation on a footpath in Calder Grove, West Yorkshire, on Saturday. Police were called to a disused railway line off Blacker Lane around 1.30 pm BST. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition and died after 7 pm.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury. A German Shepherd believed to be involved has been seized. Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox appealed for two people who stopped to help, including a woman named Sophie, to contact police. An investigation is underway.
