UP: No power cuts during festivals, uninterrupted supply ordered
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered uninterrupted, safe and smooth electricity supply during the upcoming festivals, including Dussehra and Diwali. Officials have directed that no power cuts will occur in villages or towns during the festive period.
Homes, markets and public places will have adequate lighting throughout the celebrations. The administration has emphasised prevention of electrical accidents.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The order addresses a key concern for households and businesses that rely on consistent power during peak festive lighting and commercial hours. By explicitly covering both villages and towns, the directive signals a uniform standard across the state. Enforcement depends on ground-level compliance, and the absence of a penalty or monitoring mechanism leaves room for variation. Residents will watch for actual supply continuity through Dussehra and Diwali.
