Uttarakhand rain, snow alert from 23 to 26 October
The Story in Brief
Uttarakhand is likely to see light rain and snowfall in some hill areas from 23 to 26 October, the India Meteorological Department said. Rain is expected on 23 October in parts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts. Areas above 3,500 metres in these districts may receive snow, which could increase cold conditions at higher altitudes.
The weather department has issued a specific forecast only for 23 October. For the remaining three days, it advised travellers to check its latest updates before planning any journey to the hills, as bad weather can make mountain roads difficult to navigate. Rain and snow will not occur everywhere in these districts.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Aaj Tak's source names four districts but gives a specific rain and snow forecast only for 23 October, leaving the remaining three days of the advisory without detailed location-level predictions. This means travellers planning a trip between 24 and 26 October have only a general alert, not actionable district-level information. The weather department has not yet said whether the rain and snow zones will shift to other areas. Anyone heading to high-altitude routes in Uttarakhand after 23 October will need to wait for the department's next update before finalising their journey.
