Vishwanath and Sons box office: 100 crore claim disputed

Suriya-starrer Vishwanath and Sons has sparked a box office dispute, with producer Sithara Entertainments claiming the film grossed over Rs 100 crore worldwide in two days. However, Koimoi reports a worldwide gross of Rs 77.36 crore over the same period, citing day-wise figures of Rs 44.36 crore from India and Rs 33 crore from overseas.

Cinemaexpress states the film broke the opening record of Suriya's earlier hit Karuppu, which took three days to cross Rs 100 crore. Koimoi adds that the film has become Suriya's ninth highest-grosser globally, surpassing Massu Engira Masilamani, and Kollywood's tenth highest-grosser in India for 2026, overtaking Dhanush's Kara.

Directed by Venky Atluri, the film also stars Mamitha Baiju, Radikaa Sarathkumar, and Raveena Tandon. It is produced by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios. Given the momentum, trade analysts predict the film may cross Rs 200 crore in its lifetime, depending on weekend performance.
