West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari promises new recruitment policy

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the state government will introduce a fresh recruitment policy modeled on central systems, alleging corruption under the previous regime damaged Bengal's image. He addressed the 19th Rozgar Mela organised by Eastern Railway at Sealdah on Saturday.

Adhikari said a symposium of all state recruitment organisations will be held on June 6, and a Bill to overhaul recruitment procedures will be introduced in the next Budget session of the Assembly. He proposed providing OMR carbon copies to candidates, reducing viva voce weightage, publishing scores online, and implementing the constitutional 100-point reservation roster properly.

Referring to teacher and municipal recruitment scams and the cancellation of nearly 26,000 jobs after court intervention, Adhikari said examination centres had become so tainted that railways shifted recruitment to Bihar, Assam and Odisha. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said 19 Rozgar Melas had been conducted without corruption allegations.
