Abhishek Sharma fastest to 2000 T20I runs, breaks Suryakumar record
India opener Abhishek Sharma set a new world record on Sunday, 11 October, becoming the fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs in T20 Internationals. He achieved the milestone in the third T20 against West Indies at Holkar Stadium in Indore, off just 1024 balls.
Aaj Tak reports that Abhishek surpassed Suryakumar Yadav, who had reached 2000 T20I runs in 1164 balls in December 2023. TV9 Hindi notes the record was previously held by Suryakumar Yadav in 1064 balls.
Abhishek, who scored 69 off 30 balls with six fours and five sixes, also brought up a half-century in 18 balls during the powerplay. TV9 Hindi adds this was his seventh powerplay fifty in T20Is, matching the combined total of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both Aaj Tak and TV9 Hindi offer straight factual reporting on Abhishek Sharma's fastest 2000 T20I runs, with no discernible editorial slant. Aaj Tak leads with the record and includes a BCCI tweet, while TV9 Hindi adds the detail that Abhishek's seventh powerplay fifty matches the combined tally of five other Indian batsmen. There is no conflict or partisan framing in either account. The uniform coverage reflects a consensus on the achievement's newsworthiness. Both outlets note that Abhishek was dismissed for 69 after reaching the milestone, ending his innings in the 10th over.
