AIADMK says creating reels is TVK government’s 100-day achievement

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has accused the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government of producing only social-media reels as its 100-day achievement. Addressing the media in Salem on Saturday after flagging off ambulances for the Tirukoilur constituency, he said the price of rice had risen by Rs 15 to Rs 20 per kg in a short period and that the government faced multiple protests, including from farmers.

Mr Palaniswami said the TVK had failed to waive crop loans as promised and should convene an all-party meeting on the Mekedatu dam issue to hear Opposition and farmer views. He alleged that Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay did not fully understand the Cauvery matter and that the views of coalition partners CPI, CPI(M) and VCK were ignored.

The Hindu reports Mr Palaniswami also claimed most MoUs signed at an investors' meeting involved expansion of existing industries, not new ones, and said these industries were brought to the state during AIADMK and DMK regimes. He criticised the TVK for merely renaming schemes introduced by previous governments. In a separate development, M Arunkumar, whose nomination as TVK candidate for the Edappadi constituency was rejected, joined the AIADMK on Saturday.
