Akshay Kumar builds 100 flood homes in Punjab, 80 ready

Actor Akshay Kumar has sponsored the construction of 100 homes in Punjab for people whose houses were destroyed in the 2025 floods, with 80 already completed. Actor Gurpreet Ghuggi, who worked with Kumar on films such as Singh Is Kinng, told Hindustan Times that Kumar contacted him last year offering help. Ghuggi said food supplies were plentiful but many families needed rebuilt homes, particularly in Gurdaspur and Amritsar district villages.

The project is being carried out under Kumar's Hari Om Foundation, named in memory of his late father. Ghuggi said Kumar did not want his name made public, telling him: "Jo aadmi kar sakta hai, kar raha hai. Help karna, aur phir logon ko batana… mujhe theek nahi lagta." The remaining 20 houses are nearing completion.

Kumar's next film, the psychological thriller Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan, is scheduled for theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
