Raja Krishna Menon wants Akshay Kumar reunion film as important as Airlift
Director Raja Krishna Menon has said he wants to reunite with Akshay Kumar for a film that matches the importance of their 2016 hit *Airlift*. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Menon said the two have discussed working together again but need to find the right script that audiences will connect with.
"If we come together, the film at least has to be of the same importance as *Airlift* was," Menon told Zoom. The geopolitical thriller, based on the 1990 evacuation of Indians from Kuwait, completed a decade in January and remains a commercial benchmark. Menon last directed *Pippa* on Amazon Prime Video.
Menon said he relates to stories about ordinary people discovering heroism. He hinted at an upcoming project but declined to share details. No production timeline or studio backing has been announced for the potential Akshay Kumar collaboration.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The Times Now interview is a straightforward promotional piece built around Raja Krishna Menon's desire to reunite with Akshay Kumar. The framing is wholly positive, emphasising the decade-old success of *Airlift* and the director's hope to match its importance. No critical voices or production hurdles are mentioned. The measured takeaway is that while both parties are open to collaboration, no script, producer, or timetable has been announced. The gap between aspiration and announcement is the real story here. Watch for whether a project is formally greenlit in the coming months.
