Awarapan 2 crosses Rs 60 crore net on day 3

Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 has collected Rs 60.46 crore net in India as of day 3, according to Sacnilk. The film earned Rs 4.71 crore from 3,677 shows on Sunday morning, with final day 3 figures expected later. The Hindustan Times reports the worldwide gross stands at over Rs 73 crore after two days.

The film opened at Rs 22 crore net on day 1, then jumped 50% to Rs 33 crore on day 2. Times of India notes this gives Awarapan 2 a 50% day-on-day growth. NDTV Profit puts the day 2 jump at 53.4%, taking India gross to Rs 66.90 crore. The sequel has already surpassed lifetime collections of Emraan Hashmi's earlier hits like Murder 2 and Jannat 2.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the film faces competition from Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947 and Hollywood's Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Overseas collections have been modest at over $650,000 from the Middle East and North America. The film is expected to cross Rs 70 crore net in India by day 3 evening.
