Bihar woman found hanging, two daughters dead in Nawada

A 32-year-old woman was found hanging and her two young daughters dead in a locked room in Bihar's Nawada on Monday, police said. The woman, Nida Khatoon, was found hanging from a noose, while the bodies of her daughters Sariya Khatoon (4) and Sidra Khatoon (2) were lying on a bed.

India Today reports that police are investigating both murder and suicide angles. Officers said some parts of Nida's body were found touching the bed, raising suspicion she may have been killed and her body subsequently hanged. The children are suspected to have died of strangulation, though the exact cause will be confirmed after post-mortem.

Nida's husband Mohammad Shahid has been living in Saudi Arabia for about a year, where he works as an electrician. She lived at the family home with her daughters and her parents-in-law. The bodies were sent for post-mortem after forensic examination at the scene.
