Bitcoin and Dogecoin top crypto pair for Indian investors: study

Bitcoin and Dogecoin are the most popular crypto pairing among Indian investors across all age groups, according to CoinSwitch's Q2 2026 edition of its report, India's Crypto Portfolio: How India Invests. The report, based on activity on the CoinSwitch platform, also found that younger investors lead new market participation, while older investors show stronger buying conviction and greater diversification.

Investors aged 18-25 accounted for 54.4% of new investors in Q2 2026 but were the only group to sell more than they bought, with a buy-to-sell ratio of 0.65. In contrast, investors aged 46 and above had the strongest buying conviction at 1.14. Portfolio diversification increased with age: 59.2% of those aged 18-25 held a single crypto, compared to 36.3% among those aged 36-45.

Uttar Pradesh was the largest crypto market, accounting for 12.9% of total investment, followed by Maharashtra at 12.4%. Bitcoin was the most preferred crypto in nine of India's 10 largest investing states, Andhra Pradesh was the exception, where Dogecoin ranked first. The findings reflect only CoinSwitch users and not other platforms.
