BJP files complaint against Sonia Gandhi over Vande Mataram

The BJP Yuva Morcha on Sunday filed a police complaint in Bengaluru against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, accusing her of insulting the national song Vande Mataram. The complaint alleges that video footage uploaded on YouTube shows Sonia Gandhi disrespecting the song and asking for its full rendition to be stopped during the flag-hoisting ceremony on Independence Day at the Congress party headquarters in Delhi.

The complaint states the act was apparently done deliberately to disturb peace. It was filed at the Malleswaram police station, but no FIR has been registered yet. Multiple clips of the incident have gone viral on social media.

Earlier in the day, BJP Yuva Morcha members held a protest with candles, demanding action from the central government.
