Bobby Deol conscious of being typecast as villain after Aashram, Animal
Bobby Deol has admitted he is conscious of being typecast as a villain after his acclaimed antagonist roles in Prakash Jha's 'Aashram' and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal'. Speaking at the Jagran Film Festival in Delhi on Saturday, he said the industry tends to slot actors into a certain mould once a particular role finds success. Rather than accepting every villainous role offered, he is now seeking characters that showcase a different facet of his acting.
The Times of India reports that Bobby's next project is the Prime Video spy drama 'Teen Kauwe', currently being filmed, which also stars Sidhant Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Pavail Gulati. He told PTI he tries hard to break out of repetition, citing Anurag Kashyap's 'Bandar' as an example of the kind of role he is drawn to. NDTV quotes him saying he tries to break away from that image and explore a wider range of roles.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both Times of India and NDTV present Bobby Deol's statements as straight news from the same Jagran Film Festival appearance, with no discernible slant. The coverage is uniform wire-style reporting that lets the actor's own words carry the story. The measured takeaway is that Deol is strategically managing his career revival by balancing the villainous roles that revived his fame with projects like 'Bandar' that show range. Watch whether 'Teen Kauwe' and the announced web series give him the diversity he seeks.
