Bollywood Vande Mataram plays at Shinde event, minister apologises

A Bollywood version of 'Vande Mataram' from the film Pukar, sung by Lata Mangeshkar, was mistakenly played instead of the national song at a government event in Thane attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on August 17. Shinde, along with ministers Uday Samant and Pratap Sarnaik and other dignitaries, stood through the four-minute song before the national anthem was played.

India TV reports that Shinde apologised for the goof-up, stating such mistakes must not occur at patriotic events and that special caution is needed.
