Burglars loot AIADMK leader’s house near Arakkonam

Burglars made off with 16 sovereigns of gold jewellery, three kg of silver objects and Rs 6 lakh in cash from the home of T. Sampath, 58, a former village panchayat president and AIADMK functionary in Kadambanallur village near Arakkonam, Ranipet district, on Sunday.

The Hindu reports Sampath returned home around 2 a.m. and went to the first floor where his family was sleeping. He then saw three men fleeing from the ground floor. His family found cupboards broken and valuables missing, the suspects had entered by breaking the rear door.

Thakkolam police registered a case, deployed sniffer dogs and formed special teams to catch the suspects. They are analysing CCTV footage from the area. Further investigation is underway.
